Food Tree

The greatest invention ever!  For our first few weeks after bringing the babies home, our good friends Dan and Natara setup a nightly food tree in which different families would come over/deliver some dinner for us.  It was such a treat to not have to think of something or spend the time to cook each evening.  This left us free to take care of the babies with our full attention.

We can not thank our friends enough for helping us through this wonderful, yet exhausting period.  The food was wonderful (we're still eating leftovers by the way); the short visits were really appreciated; and the love you all showed for us and our new little ones is something we will never forget.  We have become true believers in the whole "it takes a village" concept of raising children.

Christmas Stockings

We awoke (or more accurately: the sun came up and we were still awake) on Christmas morning to find that Santa had come through on his Christmas promise.  Each of the two newest stockings in the house was filled with a bundle of joy.

First Christmas

Jack and Siena spent their first Christmas at home in San Francisco.  After a leisurely morning of IMG_5585coffee, zucchini bread and opening presents, the Roberts clan went over to Nonnie and Papa's house for the day and dinner.  It was the twins' first trip to Noe Valley.

(Siena is seen here saying to her brother "Hey Jack, Merry Christmas dude.")

With plenty of friends and family on hand, the kids were enveloped in warmth and love, and they enjoyed their first Noël immensely.  The fact that they weren't quite done socializing yet became quite evident as both began to cry and fuss when their mean parents said it was time to go home.

Oh, and they both scored some cool Giants gear too.

Christmas Wish List

We couldn't get the kids to the mall to see Santa, so Dad filled in.  C'mon, like the kids know what Santa looks like anyway.  Anyhoo, the twins were so over-stimulated to see "Santa" that they both fell asleep.

Xmas Outfits

IMG_5433Thanks to Nana, the kids got to sport their new Christmas outfits. It didn't take long for IMG_5437Jack to boot all over his, but hey, that's his thing. Anyway, the little ones are quickly learning about all things Santa Claus and about the wonderful things the holiday season brings.

La Boulange pour Les Infants

The kids took to the street today. Nonnie came over to help Megan take the kids out for a stroll and some lunch. IMG_5428 La Boulange de Polk (formerly Le Petit Robert) was the eatery of choice. Dining outside on the sidewalk, the twins received a whole lot of attention from passers-by. "Twins?!" seems to be the common phrase for those just meeting Siena and Jack. In the future, we may need to take further steps in order to keep away the paparazzi.

Go Bears!!!

Jack enjoys watching Jahvid Best run wild over the Dawgs.  Piling up 311 yards of rushing and 4 touchdowns in only 34+ minutes (he sat out the rest of the game due to excess domination), Best led IMG_5429the Golden Bears to an easy 48-7 victory in their season finale over U-Dub.  Our little Golden Bear is quick to point out that Cal is undefeated during his lifetime.  Looking forward to facing the "U" in the Emerald Bowl a couple of weeks from now.

Megan's Birthday

Megan had her 29th (ahem!) birthday on Sunday, so we decided to have an adult night out. The evening consisted of dinner at a favorite eatery - Frascati. IMG_5399 It was our first time "away from the kids." Anne, Rita and Greg were kind enough to come over to watch the little ones while we had a lovely meal.

As you can see, Siena didn't want Mom to leave.

Thanks!

IMG_4845This Thanksgiving, we have even more for which to be thankful.  Helping us celebrate the arrival of Jack and Siena were the extended Roberts clan.  Tony, Gigi, Emily and Christian spent the week in San Francisco - mixing in work, sightseeing and babysitting duties.IMG_5388

Mom and Dad (Millie and Don) brought all the Thanksgiving food from Rocklin (thanks for cooking Mom) and we feasted in style.

Thanksgiving Eve

Just a quick video of life at the Roberts household on the eve of Thanksgiving. Obviously, our kids are perfect as neither makes a peep during this entire clip. Enjoy!

First Outing

Siena gets checked out while Megan dresses Jack in the backgroundSiena and Jack had their first pediatrician appointment today.  So it was back in the car seats and off we went to Dr. Simons office.  Both checked out real well.  Although they both are still under their birth weights, it seems they have leveled off and are starting to gain some back.  Also, the doctor measured each at 19 inches long.  So they're growing.

After the appointment, the kids were passed out so we went across the street to Spruce, a local restaurant/bar, and had a couple nibbles and a drink.  Our first family outing. Jack and his zebra Siena loves panda bears

Coming Home

IMG_5324On Friday, the hospital kicked us out of our 5-star suite and made us take the babies home. So we dressed them in their first outfits, strapped them into their car seats, and loaded the little guys into the car. Kevin drove about 4 miles per hour down the side roads while both kids screamed at the top of their lungs. However, within a few blocks all was silent and we now have an extra line of defense whenever we need to pacify them late at night.IMG_5328

Birth Day

The twins arrived today! Megan went into the hospital for her scheduled c-section at 2pm and our family was born a little over an hour later.

At 3:05pm, Jack Thomas came out weighing 6 lbs. 2 oz. and measuring 18 inches long. Jack was screaming with really good lungs and scored a 9 out of 10 on his Apgar test.

Two minutes later, at 3:07pm, our beautiful baby girl Siena Eileen arrived. She was 6 lbs. 1 oz and 18 1/4 inches long. Not to be outdone, Siena also scored a 9 on the Apgar. So both our kids are straight-A students thus far.

Mom did really great! First of all, carrying twins for 38.5 weeks is a remarkable task. The fact that they came out so big (for twins) and healthy is a testament to how well Megan took care of herself and her babies during the pregnancy. She is a true hero.

Full Term

Megan hit 37 weeks on Wednesday. That's full term according to the experts. Therefore, the babies are fully developed and ready to hit the outside world. Only, they don't seem ready to do so just yet.
At our last appointment on Tuesday, they poked, prodded and measured the little guys. Both appear to be super healthy - about 6.5 lbs. for the girl and 6 lbs. for the boy. She's an eater apparently. To the right is a very freaky 3-d image of the baby girl. The boy was hiding, so no pic this time.
Also at the appointment, Megan's doctor said he does not want the babies to go past 39 weeks. That means that they will be among us sometime before November 19th. Stay tuned...

The Ritz - Half Moon Baby

Per the many recommendations we received, we decided to take a final romantic trip before the babies arrive. It was only for one night and the destination was Half Moon Bay during the Pumpkin Festival.

Kevin got to play golf while Megan relaxed in luxury. In the afternoon, we reclined in the big Aderondack chairs that face the golf course and the ocean. Ah, Scotch.
Dinner was spent enjoying room service and watching some movie (I forget now what it was). After a restful sleep and a late checkout, we headed back up the coast to our pad in The City. A very nice, relaxing weekend at the ocean.

This is what we used to do with our free time.
